Everyone loves pizza, right? I know I do! I have noticed that many people seem to think that pizza can only be made with tomato sauce as it’s base. So today I am here to prove them wrong. Pizza can and has often been made with many different sauce bases. Dessert pizzas have been sweeping the nation as of late. But that has nothing to do with today’s post….anyway, here it is, another Easy Weekday Dinner for your family sure to fill their bellies and put a smile on their faces. Turn up your noses not at the canned pizza dough.

The Ingredients: 2 tubes of Pillsbury classic pizza dough, 3/4 cup roasted red pepper hummus, 1 can Margaret Holmes Triple Succotash, 2 frozen black bean burgers, 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, 1 tsp. Italian seasoning, 1 tsp. no salt seasoning, 1/2 tsp. garlic, 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes, 1 tbsp. olive oil.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease a large, circular pizza pan with the olive oil. Flatten the pizza dough into two semicircles, lay them on the pizza pan, pinching the excess dough along the edges so that it forms a crust. Sprinkle the spices evenly over the dough and bake for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Meanwhile, pour the hummus and succotash into the bowl of your food processor, pulse 4 to 5 times, do not totally puree (there should pea-sized vegetable chunks). Place the bowl into your refrigerator. When the pizza dough is ready, remove it from the oven and spread the hummus sauce evenly over the crust. Now cut the defrosted burgers into bite size pieces and place them on top of the sauce. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the top and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve (optional, but green onions are sooooo good on this pizza!)

As you can see, this makes a very large, thick-crusted pizza.:)
